Radix Sophorae Flavescentis (Ku Shen) is the dried root of Sophora flavescens Ait. Sophorae has  antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergic properties. Possessing antibacterial, anti-gastric ulcer, anti-tumor, anti-arrhythmic and myocardial ischemia, as well as antidiarrheal effects.
 
Its extract has the same effect as Radix Sophorae flavescentis, and can kill trichomonas vaginalis and amoeba, is utilized in cosmetic formulations for its multifaceted benefits. It aids in skin whitening, reduces inflammation, combats acne, exhibits antibacterial properties, and helps regulate the secretion of sebum, making it a valuable ingredient for maintaining skin health and appearance. 
 
It could be considered for use in the cosmetics industry. At the same time, using its antibacterial effect in vitro, it used in daily chemicals, such as toothpaste, disinfection wipes, etc. It could even be applied to animal husbandry, for the prevention and control of bacterial infections in pigs and fish.
